The
Challenge
This project required a large excavation to flatten the previous sloping grassy garden and construction of a reinforced retaining wall along the back and sides.
Over 10 tonnes of soil and rubble were removed to bring the clients the privacy they were looking for as well as maximising the space available for them.
This project was undertaken to bring utility, beauty and fuctionality to a very grassy, sloped and otherwise un-used small urban garden in Dublin.
Bespoke Solution
We used Rasa Beige Outdoor porcelain patio tiles for the patios and block built walls with rustic stone facings, The wall cappings are 50mm thick black limestone and the steps are gold granite.
And we put in more plants than we can list! The customer was good enough to send in a few pictures once the plants had become established.

Attention to Detail
The Cabin / Utility Room / Bar is constructed from 30mm pressure-treated barrel board, with 180-degree opening windows, outside bar / counter and window boxes. It has a sloping shingle roof with guttering.
The clients needed an area to store their summer chairs and cushions and a section of the cabin to house their fridge, freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and wine cooler.
Inside is plumbed and wired for a utility room with lighting, sink, shelves and drainage.
Functionality for Years
This project brought a vast deal of usability to the garden again with the clients regularly enjoying family breakfasts & lunches out in the garden surrounded by the plants and subtle outdoor lighting.
They love the cabin and there's so much space since we've tailored the unit housings inside to match their utilities (Washer/fridge/wine cooler) perfectly!
We promised they'd love the long worktop with an in-set sink as it's so handy for serving food & drinks and managing the cleanup when having people over for Barbeques or parties!

Great quality, tidy workers, but mostly a couple of great lads.
— Barry & Kelly ( Dublin )"Big shout out to Mike and Chris at Mr Blue Sky who transformed our garden recently. Dug out the entire old garden, levelled it out, framed it with planters, cleaned our patio, and put in all foundations for new garden room. They also built a beautiful pagoda. Great quality, tidy workers, but mostly a couple of great lads."
These guys are miracle workers.
— Blaithin ( Navan )"Great team. They transformed a very neglected overgrown garden into a beautiful place of joy. They removed tree stumps, ground alder and weeds etc, it was not an easy task. They put up beautiful fencing, that is also very sturdy and low maintenance. They repaired a very tired patio that now looks fabulous. They also replaced rotten supports for flower beds/steps. They also built two raised plant beds that are great. And they planted bushes, flowers etc around the gardens. They removed all debris from their work also. These guys are miracle workers. They listen to the customer and work with you. They love their work and are enthusiastic about restoring gardens. My garden was neglected for 20yrs, it was a mess now it is beautiful. I highly recommend this firm. They travelled from Dublin to Navan to do the job no problem also. I couldn't get a local firm to take it on. They also stick pretty close to the estimated price for the final price. Book these guys to do your garden."
Mike and team just finished my garden and can't say enough about how delighted I am.
